We will have 1 prenatal appointment to allow us to get to know one another. You are also encouraged to come to the prenatal birth class as well. At the visit, I will help you identify your priorities for the birth, help you write a birth plan, and discuss any questions you may have. We will also discuss common practices & procedures you may encounter during labor and birth depending on your birth location. The visits can be at your home or another mutually agreeable location.
I will be on-call for you 24/7 from 2 weeks prior to your estimated due date, until the birth of your baby. This means that I will carry my cell phone with me at all times during the day and night. You will be able to call whenever you feel you might be going into labor and I will come to you whenever you are ready for me.
Labor and Delivery
Once you are in labor, I will provide continuous emotional & physical support to you and your partner. I will join you at your home for support during early labor. I will stay with you for about 2 hours after the birth of your baby or until you are ready to be alone with your baby. I will provide breastfeeding assistance immediately following the birth.
I provide at least 1 postpartum visit in person to discuss how you are doing and how you feel about the birth. This will also include basic breastfeeding counseling, ongoing breastfeeding support as needed, and a referral to a breastfeeding specialist if necessary. The first visit will occur within a few days of delivery.
